Appraisals (Vehicle Valuation)

Know what your vehicle is really worth
Whether you’re insuring a collector car, settling an estate, or buying a vehicle long-distance, a professional appraisal gives you a clear, well-documented opinion of value—backed by a thorough inspection and market research.
What is a vehicle appraisal?
A vehicle appraisal is a written report that documents a vehicle’s condition and provides an opinion of market value based on professional resources, comparable sales, and real-world market data (including auction results).
It’s especially valuable when a “quick online estimate” doesn’t reflect the true condition, originality, upgrades, or documentation of your specific car.
Common reasons to request an appraisal
Appraisals are often needed for:
- Insurance agreed-value / stated-value coverage (collector, classic, specialty)
- Estate settlements
- Divorce / asset division
- Loan collateral valuations
- Donation valuation or claim support
- Pre-purchase decisions (especially for long-distance purchases)

What’s included in Gary’s appraisal process
We follow a professional, inspection-first approach—because values shouldn’t be set by photos alone.
1) On-site inspection (by appointment)
Appraisals are completed by appointment, and we can travel to where the vehicle is garaged.
A thorough inspection typically includes:
- Exterior condition and bodywork details
- Interior condition
- Engine and engine compartment
- Chassis/undercarriage
- Trunk/cargo area
We also review available documentation (receipts, ownership notes, and history) when possible.
2) Photos + notes captured during the inspection
Photos are taken of inspected areas, and condition notes are recorded to support the final report.
3) Research + valuation support
We use professional resources and auction results (plus relevant documentation) to support a market value opinion.
4) Written appraisal report
Your report includes:
- Photos of the inspected areas + a narrative summary
- A condition rating for each major area using a 1–5 scale (1 = concours-level; 5 = parts/major restoration)
- An overall rating and an assigned market value
Typical turnaround: about 1 week after inspection (rush service may be available).

Pre-purchase appraisal options (long-distance friendly)
Buying from out of state (or across the country)? A pre-purchase appraisal can include a written report plus a real-time phone call during the inspection, with quick photos shared as we go.
When permitted—and when it’s safe—a test drive may be attempted with buyer/seller approval.
What types of vehicles can be appraised?
We’re a great fit for vehicles where condition, originality, workmanship, and documentation matter most, including:
- Collector and classic cars
- Muscle cars and hot rods
- Street rods and special-interest vehicles
- Exotics
- Late-model specialty builds
